Ministry Staff

John Greiner | Pastor

This native Texan holds nothing back, whether he's ministering to his own flock or to pastors and leaders in other nations. His desire is to live on the forefront of the move of God on the earth and to bring others into His fullness with miracles of healing and provision.

Pastor Greiner was born again at age 33, after he experienced a vision of Jesus. He and his wife, Gladys, sat under the ministry of Pastor John Osteen for eight years before being ordained as ministers in the church, serving another 6 years in that role.

Pastor Greiner was raised as a devout Catholic, attending Catholic school through the 8th grade. At the age of 4, he heard missionaries from South America sharing their stories, and his heart burned to serve God in the ministry. The nuns recognized his calling, appointing him to leadership roles like training other altar boys. As he grew older, he drifted away from his childhood faith. In 1968, while attending Texas A&M University, he married Gladys, his childhood sweetheart, a committed Baptist. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and began what would be a long career in custom homebuilding.

His life now devoid of spiritual meaning, he and Gladys agreed to search for truth. God met him at his point of faith when he saw healing miracles at a Catholic Charismatic meeting hosted by Father Ralph DiOrio. A short year later, Pastor Greiner committed his life to Jesus Christ, received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and began growing spiritually under the ministry of Pastor John Osteen. God worked mightily in the Greiner family, all of whom were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit within months. His own mother was born again and gloriously healed of a debilitating case of osteoporosis at age 70. Divine healing has been a theme of Pastor Greiner's life and ministry ever since.

In 1995, after much prayer and consultation with Pastor Osteen, the Greiners laid down their 25 - year career and founded Glorious Way Church in Northwest Houston. Today, that business background shows in his ministry, and he's not afraid to use practical illustrations from his real - world experience.

Pastor Greiner has traveled in India, Canada and extensively in the Philippines where he has both encouraged local church leaders and helped reach the lost with the gospel. Pastor John and Gladys are joined in ministry by their two children and their families.

Resume': Pastor Greiner holds a Doctor of Humane Letters from Becket Theological Institute and is cited for ministerial accomplishment in the Heritage Registry of Who's Who. In 2008, he was recognized by the IBC Leading Educators of the World.

Gladys Greiner | Pastoral Ministry, Prayer Leader
A "cheerleader" at heart, Gladys holds a vital role in leadership. Her compassion and love for people are her greatest strengths as she flows in ministry with Pastor Greiner. Active in each GWC service, she is bold in prayer and loves to share God's healing touch at the altar.

Gladys was raised in a home that did not attend church. When she was 9, her father suddenly died, leaving her mother alone to care for a family of 9. In her grief, Gladys cried out to the Lord, and He spoke to her that He would be her dad. She walked to the nearest Baptist church where she acknowledged her faith to the Pastor and began learning the things of God through programs like the GAs. Over the years, that church served as an extended family to her as she eagerly attended each function.

As an adult, Gladys aided her husband during his 25 - year custom homebuilding career and was an active mother to her two children. She recommitted her life to the Lord when her husband became born again, and, like him, she received the baptism in the Holy Spirit. In 1987, while attending a Billye Brim meeting, Gladys felt an intense burning sensation in her hands. Those around her noticed a deep purple color appearing in her palms. Since then, a special healing anointing seems to operate through Gladys. Many have been healed instantly when this gift begins to operate. Today she shares encouragement and strength from the Bible with the church and also with other women in ministry here and abroad.

Jay Greiner | Administrative, Pastoral

Who says preacher's kids are rebels? Jay tows the line for God, conducting much of the practical business of the church while serving as Executive Director over various groups of volunteers, including audio/video and ushers. On guitar, he's also an integral part of the church's worship band. Though he prefers staying under the radar, he does pray often with people in the church and delivers messages from the pulpit whenever called upon. Jay has ministered here and overseas, and he has been performing GWC baptisms since 1999.

Both Jay and his wife, Selena, have served the Lord throughout their lives, developing valuable ministry skills even during their teen years. From the inception of the church, Jay has been here, serving first as a volunteer. Now a long-time member of our staff, he's also a dependable leader to the congregation. Jay and Selena have two children.

Selena Greiner | Administrative, Nursery/Preschool Coordinator

Selena shows her love for children both at home and at church. A busy mom of two, she also serves a clerical role in the church while teaching an assortment of children's classes, from infants to pre-teens. She's always a class favorite.

Both Selena and her husband, Jay, have a heart to see the ministry of helps advanced in the church, and they lead by quiet example. Their skills and plain good sense belie their youth.

James Buntrock | Administrative/Pastoral

During James' childhood, his parents operated a street outreach in Corpus Christi, so ministry is familiar territory. Initially, James chose the construction industry, managing multi-million dollar projects, both public and private. He joined our staff early in 2008. Skilled in bidding and budgeting, he managed our recent building addition and is also helping plan our future new site. His experience in management and staffing are also a plus as he heads up Human Resources for the church, along with special foreign missions projects.

Claire Buntrock | Administrative

Once a fledgling journalist, Claire now enjoys telling the Good News live and on the web. She began working at GWC when she was recruited after college by her dad (Pastor Greiner). She first served as Youth Director for 3 years and later as Children's Ministry Director for 8 years. Today, she ministers churchwide when called upon. Claire oversees several ministries in the church including Children's Ministry, Welcome Team and Life Team. She also serves an administrative function in the office. She and her husband, James (above), have 2 preschoolers and an infant.

Adam & Sophie Macey | Youth Directors
With wisdom from the Word and passion to see the strong flow of God continue in the group, they're doing a great job! Both have grown up with ministry in their blood. Now they're finding their wings to keep our teenagers flying higher while utilizing skills from parents and teens to help out. Adam, a gifted vocalist, can sing Heaven down, while Sophie is a certified interpreter for the deaf. Their packed event schedule keeps teenagers connected to God and each other. They have an infant son.

Rosie Cardell | Guest/Volunteer Ministries

At some point, Rosie is a point of contact for everyone in GWC. She helps us make sure no one falls through the cracks. She’s friendly, efficient and brings a sense of excellence into each task she tackles. She and husband, Charlie, have an infant son.

Charlie Cardell | Facilities

If things seem especially clean and well-manicured around here, thank Charlie. If you come early or stay late, you’re likely to see him making sure things run smoothly all around our 85 acres. His dry wit makes him great to visit with, but you won’t stop his walking boots for too long. He’s always busy.

Sylvia Garay | Director, Children's Ministry

One conversation with Sylvia and you’ll see that her passion is imparting God’s Word to children. It comes naturally to her. She’s a Children’s Ministry veteran who’s always creative, resourceful and well-received by both kids and parents. Beyond ministry in the classroom, her vision is to build close-knit teacher teams and special ministry groups like puppets and drama and also has a heart to train/equip older children to participate in kids’ ministry.
